A girly weekend with my bestie…
Finally a long awaited bit of sunshine arrived this weekend with the presence of one of my best friends Naomi. We took full advantage of the sun and spilled ourselves onto the streets of East London to explore Brick Lane and it’s vintage markets.
Every time my country bumpkin best friend comes up to the big smoke we make an effort to visit the wonderful markets London has to offer. We have been to Portobello Road, Camden, Old Spitalfields and our latest expedition Brick Lane. I am a sucker for vintage and can lose myself amongst the little treasures these markets have to offer. What makes these markets great is that they full of authentic, one-off pieces and this is a nice alternative to the high street. I came away with 2 small pieces and a wish list as long as my arm. An ongoing addiction that me and my bestfriend share is sunglasses!! Every market stall we walked by we stopped and tried on a million glasses, unfortunately I was unable to buy them all but i did narrow it down to one pair of black cat eyed glasses. If you didn’t get a chance to read my latest post on statement sunnies, please click here.
Aside from just sunglasses, Brick Lane has to offer a massive collection of vintage items from sequined tops, fur jackets, vintage leather and denim, chunky jewellery, hats with ears, bow ties, silk scarves, antique teapots and tea sets, vinyls, antique furniture and much more.
We visited the Truman Brewery where the indoor market stalls were set up and a place called The Tea Rooms, which was also an indoor market area/café with lots of delicious looking cakes and stalls. The cake stalls are a great idea and located in the heart of the vintage market providing a perfect pit stop for refueling. Aside from the indoor markets, Brick Lane is full of independant shops, whether it be coffee shops, boutiques, fashion thrift shops, book shops antique furniture stores and many more, there really is something for everyone.
I have included some of my favourite snaps from the weekend below…
Love these sci-fi glasses…
Some scary looking fur coats…(not for me)
CHUNKY gold jewellery…love all of these!!!
More sunglasses….(we’re obsessed)
Teacups and handmade aprons…so cuuuuute!!
We also came across a stall full of bow ties run by a company called TIE DOCTOR – for those who are a sucker for a bow tie check out their website here.
And to top off our day we indulged in Brick Lanes famous salt beef bagel – yuuuuuuuuuuum!!
For all you vintage lovers, Brick Lane is a great spot for those hidden gems and is an absolute must-see!!
Hope you enjoyed the post guys
